English professor Alan Blackstock
Alan Blackstock, a Utah State University English professor, has won the prestigious Fulbright award to teach in Ecuador for four months.
Blackstock teaches at the USU Uintah Basin Vernal Campus. His teaching Interests include 19th century British and American literature, environmental writing, rhetoric. His Research Interests include 19th century British and American literature, environmental writing, rhetoric, pedagogy.
Blackstock grew up in New Mexico, earned an MA and PhD in English literature, and spent most of the 1980s teaching in various Asian countries. He arrived at USU-Uintah Basin in 2000.
The United States Congress created the Fulbright Program in 1946. The Fulbright Program has provided more than 255,000 participants with the opportunity to observe each others’ political, economic and cultural institutions, exchange ideas and embark on joint ventures of importance to the general welfare of the world’s inhabitants. Grants are used to support graduate study, university lecturing, advanced research or professional training in the arts.
