Monique Davila

Monique Davila is the community engagement coordinator for the Utah Historical Society. Originally from Tucson, Arizona, Monique moved to Logan, Utah in 2020 to attend Utah State University to obtain her master’s degree in history. While a graduate student at USU, Monique worked at the Merrill-Cazier Library’s Special Collections and Archives and helped curate the Outdoor Recreation Archives online exhibit. She also worked with Congregation Brith Sholem, a Jewish synagogue in Ogden, to research and create a digital exhibit on Ogden’s Jewish history. Monique’s educational and career paths led her to focus on building opportunities for underserved communities to participate in preserving and sharing their history.

Through her work with the Utah Historical Society, Monique is partnering with community-based organizations throughout Utah to share their stories through the Peoples of Utah Revisited initiative. This initiative seeks to widen the lens on Utah’s history and tell the story of all Utahns. Through community and digital archiving, oral history, and preservation work, Monique hopes to expand the field of history to the public and provide room for all to share their stories.

Currently, Monique lives in Ogden, Utah with her partner and three elderly dogs.
