Jessica Rivera-Mueller

Biography

Dr. Rivera-Mueller directs the Department of English’s concurrent enrollment program and teaches courses in English education and writing studies. Her scholarship focuses on facilitating teacher development for middle, high school, and college English teachers. Within this focus, she advocates for pedagogical inquiry, teacher agency, and social justice education. Jessica approaches her teaching, research, and service as a facilitator of learning; she enjoys the process of learning with and from her students and colleagues. Her work has appeared in Teaching/Writing: The Journal of Writing Teacher Education, Journal on Empowering Teaching Excellence, Prompt: A Journal of Academic Writing Assignments, Utah English Journal, and edited collections in the fields of writing studies and education. She is also an executive board member for the Utah Council of Teachers of English.

Dr. Rivera-Mueller is available to serve on graduate thesis committees concerning any aspect of secondary or post-secondary English teaching or teacher development, as well as on projects concerning writing studies.
