The micro certificate in Social Dimensions of Climate Change will prepare students to understand and address some of the myriad aspects of climate change in both their personal and professional lives. Students will learn about social science theories and methods related to studying this issue and gain some background knowledge on natural science components.

Career Application
The Climate Change and Environmental Justice minor will prepare students for roles in law, engineering, compliance inspection, education, restoration, environmental science, and more. Numerous related job opportunities can be found within the state of Utah and beyond. 

Minor Requirements
  • Required Courses: SOC 3310: Environmental Justice and SOC 3300: Sociology of Climate Change 
  • Electives: Choose ONE course from THREE of the following areas: Axes of Inequality, Social Change, A Deeper Dive into Social Science Perspectives on Socio-Environmental Issues, A Deeper Dive into Humanities Perspectives on Socio-Environmental Issues, and Climate Change through a Natural Sciences Lens. Many of the elective courses also fulfill general education requirements. 
  • Designed for Depth: Build upon micro certificates for a more in-depth exploration 
  • Scale Your Skillset: The minor only requires 15 credits and is open to all majors
