CHaSS Pre-Law Series

Panel Discussion/Presentation

CHaSS Outreach Coordinator and Pre-Law Advisor are teaming up to bring you a series of conversations with alumni working in legal careers. Join us each month as we explore various opportunities and aspects of the legal profession. All USU students, faculty, and staff are welcome!

On Thursday, October 28 we’ll focus on the experience of a judicial clerkship. Join us for a conversation with Kimberly Smith who earned a bachelor's degree in English from Utah State University before graduating summa cum laude from the S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2020. From September 2020 through August 2021, Kimberly clerked for Judge Ted Stewart, a federal district judge for the District of Utah. Now, she is clerking for Judge Carolyn McHugh, a judge for the Tenth CircuitCourt of Appeals.

During law school, she participated in the school’s law review and worked as a research assistant for one of her professors. She also spent summers clerking at Benett, Tueller, Johnson & Deere, a local law firm in Salt Lake City, Utah.
