Senior Lecturer and Logan City Poet Laureate Shanan Ballam opened the first Logan City Council Meeting of 2022 with her poem "Poem for the New Year, 2022."
Shanan was also recently featured on the January 5, 2022 edition of UPR's “Access Utah” in a program entitled "Poets in the New Year." Shanan was accompanied by Utah Poet Laureate Paisley Rekdal and poet and sonosopher Alex Caldiero. Shanan read two poems by May Swenson and some of her own poems, including the poem she wrote for the Logan City Council Meeting and a poem dedicated to the late Ken Brewer.
