USU Alumna Spotlight: Hailey Cragun-Barney

USU alumna Hailey Cragun-Barney (MA 2017) is now a grant-writer for Safe Harbor Crisis Center. Safe Harbor is the first and only domestic violence and rape crisis center in Davis County, Utah. Safe Harbor Crisis Center provides shelter, supportive services, and advocacy to survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, as well as education, awareness, and resources to the community at no cost. Grants make this work possible, and are approximately 80% of Safe Harbor's operating budget. Hailey enjoys using her skills to give back to the community. During her time with Safe Harbor, Hailey has acquired funding to expand pet services, increase access to therapy for clients, and provide tools for staff to reduce the effects of secondary trauma. Observing the impact of her work firsthand is incredibly fulfilling. Hailey’s time at USU was invaluable as she learned to be meticulous in her writing and practiced critical reading skills, which are important when evaluating grant solicitations.

Hailey lives farm-adjacent with her husband, son, twin girls, and a rabbit named Cedar. She is happiest when she can get at least five hours of sleep. She enjoys online shopping, roller skating, singing, and traveling with her crew.
