On February 3, 2023, seven English teaching students participated in the annual Utah Council of Teachers of English Conference, held in Sandy, Utah.

Four students presented their research and teaching materials in the "Future is Now" session of the conference. Maryn Van Tassell and Sydney Little co-presented a literature unit that they designed in their methods course with Associate Professor Ben Gunsberg. Amanda Mackay presented her research project on writing instruction that she conducted in Professor Joyce Kinkead's research course. Emily Van Wagoner presented the research project that she is conducting with Assistant Professor Jessica Rivera-Mueller through USU's Undergraduate Research Fellows Program. Carter Hansen, Danelle Steele, and Lizzie Thornton participated in the conference by launching the 2023 statewide writing competition for students in grades 6-12 that is facilitated by students in Dr. Rivera-Mueller's "Teaching Writing" course.
