Dr. Edenfield’s Essay in The Journal of Business and Technical Communication

Avery Edenfield

Dr. Avery Edenfield, an Assistant Professor of English at USU, has just published an essay in the Journal of Business and Technical Communication as part of a special issue on COVID-19 rhetorics. The essay, “Managing Gender Care in Precarity: Trans Communities Respond to COVID-19,” explores the effect of the pandemic on the health care precarity of transgender people, especially concerning gender transition. In this article, Dr. Edenfield explores the difficulties in which trans people find themselves during the pandemic and analyzes strategies of tactical technical communication trans people are using in response, including do-it-yourself forms of technical communication that support gender transition. Dr. Edenfield, who has been at USU since 2016, teaches in the Technical Communication and Rhetoric program.
