Alan Blackstock’s New Book on Willa Cather and E. M. Forster

Alan Blackstock, Professor of English at the USU Uintah Basin campus, has recently published a new book with Roman & Littlefield, Willa Cather and E.M. Forster: Transatlantic Transcendence. The book explores these writer’s relationship to liberal humanism and modernism, comparing the ways in which they search for transcendence in their work. In a larger sense, the book explores how literature and the arts can help to transcend the deficiencies and disunities of life in the modern era. Professor Blackstock, who has been at USU since 2000, teaches 19th century British and American literature, environmental writing, and rhetoric and composition.
