Amy Piotrowski, Associate Professor of English education in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership with a secondary appointment in the English Department at USU’s Uintah Basin campus, recently co-wrote a chapter with one of her doctoral students for the book Critical Digital Literacies: Boundary-Crossing Practices. The book received a Divergent Publication Award for Excellence in Literacy in a Digital Age Research from The Initiative for Literacy in a Digital Age.

The chapter discusses the development of Critical Digital Literacies (CDL) for both pre-service teachers of English and for their future students through critical reflection of their own participation in digital society as practitioners and personally, based specifically in a young adult (YA) literature course.

Amy supervises graduate students interested in writing pedagogy with secondary and college students, digital literacies, young adult literature, secondary English teaching, and teacher education. She also teaches courses for the Secondary Teacher Education Program and the English Teaching program on the Uintah Basin campus.
