USU English Department Assistant Professor Afsane Rezaei recently published an article in the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies. Relying on ethnographic research, "The Ritual Fusion: Individuality, Tradition, and Sensory Memory in Iranian Women’s Islamic Gatherings in Los Angeles” applies a performance-centered approach to the study of women's vernacular religious practices, exploring their multilayered personal and collective functions in the diasporic context.
