The English Department had excellent representation at the 2022 Student Research Symposium, which occurred during USU’s Research Week on Tuesday, April 12th and Wednesday, April 13th. Faculty mentors Cree Taylor, Christine Cooper-Rompato, and Jessica Rivera-Mueller all had students who shared their research at the event, which blended in-person and online components.
Joyce Kinkead's ENGL 6810 students and her Honors 1320 presented at the symposium, with the latter presenting "Make Your [Punctuation] Mark: A Brief History of Punctuation Marks and their use in Gen Z Text Language.” Graduate students, in addition to presenting their individual projects, presented a collaborative research poster, "Caring, Investing, Powering: Undergraduate Research Mentoring Practices by English Faculty.”
