Biography

Melody Graulich joined the USU faculty in 1997 to serve as editor of Western American Literature, a post she held until 2013. She has written or edited several books, including Dirty Words in Deadwood: Literature and the Postwestern; In Search of a Common Language: Environmental Writing and Education; Trading Gazes: Euro-American Women Photographers Among the North American Indians; and Reading The Virginian in the New West: Centennial Essays. Since retiring in 2017, she has written and published fiction. Her story, “Granite Ledges,” is available on Amazon. “The Magpie,” which won the 2021 Western Literature Association Creative Writing Award, appears in Weber: The Contemporary West (Fall 2022).
