Biography

Bonnie specializes in teaching for the Undergraduate Composition program at USU including Introduction to Academic Writing and Research Writing in a Persuasive Mode. She also teaches The Farm in Literature and Culture, a course which examines literature related to the farm, farming, and agriculture in the broad definition of the word, including written texts, images, music (folk song, farm ballads, and country), film, and material culture such as quilts. The course covers texts ranging from an ancient Sumerian almanac, Chaucer, Jefferson, Crevecoeur, Steinbeck, and Cather to more modern writers like Wendell Berry, Michael Pollan, Joel Salatin, Novella Carpenter, and Kristin Kimball. Bonnie’s interests also include the beloved American author, Willa Cather, and Mormon Studies, particularly the study of early Mormon women who practiced polygamy.
