Biography
Ashley Wells teaches composition and creative writing at Utah State University. Her book The Cowgirl and The Racehorse: A Recovery explores cowgirl stories, gender, the whitewashing of the West, and power, braiding these subjects together with personal experiences. Her research and teaching interests include resistance songs, representation in comics, cowgirl narratives in pop-culture, creative nonfiction, and the rhetoric of conservation, as well as writing center research. Her essays have appeared in Connotation Press, Women in Higher Education, and Jezebel.
