Michael Young

Biography

Michael Young is currently pursuing a master's degree in Anthropology at Utah State University, following his Bachelor of Science in Anthropology from the University of Oregon in 2021, with a focus on Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology. He has since worked extensively across the western United States and Micronesia as a Cultural Resource Management archaeologist. Presently, Michael is engaged as a graduate research assistant in the Bringing War Home Project at Utah State University, under the mentorship of Dr. Molly Cannon and Dr. Susan Grayzel. This project, supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, aims to preserve and share wartime artifacts and personal narratives, emphasizing the importance of amplifying the voices of those who have stories to tell from periods of conflict. His research interests encompass diverse areas such as lithic analysis, hunter-gatherer subsistence, preindustrial population dynamics, and incipient social complexity. Outside of academia, Michael enjoys weightlifting, trying new foods, and embarking on adventures.
