Biography
Mariah Walzer is master’s student in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology and Cultural Resource Management. She graduated from Hamilton College in 2017 with a double major in Archaeology and Creative Writing. She has worked for the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service for five years and is passionate about making human history interesting and accessible to the public. Her thesis examines Indigenous fire management at an agricultural village in Dinosaur National Monument, Utah from AD 300-1300 under the guidance of Dr. Judson Finley. Mariah’s other academic interests include community-engaged archaeology, gender and class studies, Indigenous land management practices, and landscape archaeology. Outside of archaeology, she enjoys hiking, baking, gardening, cross-stitching, and reading.
