MSW – Advanced Standing One-Year Full-Time Program

BSW Required, Logan Campus Only

Overview

The mission of Utah State University's MSW program is consistent with the intent of CSWE Educational Policy standards regarding the purpose and structure of social work education and with the University's mission and vision. The mission is grounded in the Social Work Department's guiding philosophy which is based on two broad traditions: generalist and advanced generalist social work practice and the land grant university heritage. The program is committed to enhancing the quality of life in Utah, the nation, and the world, through community engagement, leadership development, research and extension, and is reflective of the fundamental need to adjust social institutions to the democratic and egalitarian ideals of both the University and Social Work profession.

Advanced Standing Program

The Advanced Standing (AS) program begins summer semester every year. Over the course of three semesters, students will complete 36 credits. The program begins with an intensive summer session during which students will complete two 3-credit seminars. After completion of the summer session, AS students will join the full-time students in their second year of the traditional 2-year MSW program coursework and internship. Applications may be submitted in the Fall prior to admittance. Notification of admittance will be distributed in mid-November of each application cycle.
