Community Engaged Scholars

Community engagement is foundational to the student learning experience within the Department of Social Work. Across our campuses, our faculty actively involve students in community-engaged research and community outreach and actions that center community voice. We believe that social workers are fundamental to the health and well-being of individuals, families, groups, and communities, and we are committed to pursuing social justice through anti-oppressive, transformative social work practice that is grounded in community engaged principles and values. Many of our core courses are designated as Community-Engage Learning courses at USU, and we encourage students to apply for the Community Engaged Scholars program. Students can also learn more about community engagement and service opportunities through the Val R. Christiansen Service Center.
