USU Courses

Become a Certified Mind-Body Bridging Therapist

USU offers two live courses through Zoom (Foundation and Advanced) to both USU enrolled graduate students and to non-enrolled masters level students to help them learn and master the I-System Model and Mind-Body Bridging®. Both courses are 3 Credit hours or 4.5 Continuing Education Hours (45 contact hours). Classes are synchronous, held once a week for three hours for 14 consecutive weeks.

The I-System is a biopsychological mechanism and is a common factor in a wide range of psychopathology. The I-System creates unrealistic identity-grasping (the belief that there is a single independent identity, referred to as one’s self, which is not changing and not dependent on anything else), consisting of self-centered expectations (rules of how self, others and the world should be), that impairs mind-body wellbeing and functioning. The I-System Model is the basis of Mind-Body Bridging® (MBB®), an evidence-based transdiagnostic intervention that alleviates psychological distress for individuals with a broad range of mental health issues, and increases psychological flexibility and resilience. The aim of MBB is simply to reduce the activity of the I-System so that our innate adaptive true self can flourish.

Licensed clinicians and students in graduate programs leading to licensure who successfully complete both courses will become Certified MBB® Therapists.
