Stephen VanGeem

Biography

Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology at Utah State University (USU). Since graduating from USF, Dr. VanGeem has continued his research examining the effectiveness of the mental health specialty court system in northern Utah. Over the summer, he won a small grant from the Mountain West Center for Regional Studies at USU to conduct a qualitative study of a local mental health court. He is also co-authoring a manual with a Utah District Court Judge on how to establish a mental health court. In addition, he serves on the planning committee for the 2016 National Mental Health Court Summit, as well as USU's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. In his free time, Stephen enjoys hiking, snowshoeing, and snowboarding in the Utah's Wasatch Range, as well as remodeling his 121-year old home with his wife, Lynne
