USU Social Work Program Partners with the Division of Fair Housing

USU Social Work Program Partners with the Division of Fair Housing to assess the public’s knowledge and attitudes regarding the Fair Housing Law. Dr. David Parker, the Education Outreach Specialist at Utah’s Division of Fair Housing, and Dr. Jessica Lucero and Professor Jenifer Evers are working with USU undergraduate social work students in their Community Practice courses to collect and analyze data related to Fair Housing. Students are collecting data through neighborhood canvassing and outreach efforts in Logan, Brigham City, Tooele, Price, and Moab. Additionally, they are recruiting participants throughout the rest of the state by contacting community and religious organizations and through social media sharing. Following the analysis of the data, students will identify a community group, design an educational outreach presentation, and present educational information on the Fair Housing Law to their identified community group. We are very excited about this work and the opportunity for our students to be involved in this important project!
