Overview
The Leadership and Diplomacy Certificate of Proficiency aims to increase student awareness, knowledge, and skills to make them more effective leaders, communicators, negotiators, and problem solvers in their respective careers and communities locally, nationally, and internationally.
Real World Application
This interdisciplinary certificate program is open to all majors, with students choosing between a domestic or an international/global track of study. These dual tracks are intended to ensure that all students in the program graduate with essential communication skills as well as a developed understanding of government and governmental processes, either at the national/local or the international/global level — a foundation that will help students exert leadership in a variety of professions, including public administration, government relations, law, foreign service, NGO/nonprofits, journalism, business, and education.
Program Highlights
The program aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of the multidimensional aspects and avenues of leadership and to encourage students to become actively involved in their university and broader communities. For this reason, all students in the program are required to participate in a seminar on public policy and community leadership.
As a capstone, students in the Leadership and Diplomacy Certificate program must complete a domestic or international internship through USU’s Institute of Government and Politics (IOGP) or the Office of Global Engagement.
