Biography

Nowrin Fatema is doing a Master's degree in Sociology with over seven years of experience, including the United Nations World Food Programme in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, home to the world's largest refugee camp. During her time there, she worked within the Research, Assessment, and Monitoring unit, gaining expertise in GIS, remote sensing, food security, market analysis, qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis, reporting and coordinating survey teams. She also served as an Associate GIS Specialist at the Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board in Dhaka. Nowrin Fatema pursued her undergraduate studies in Forestry at the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. She then completed her master's degree in Disaster Management at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently, Nowrin is working under the supervision of Dr. Kirsten Vinyeta, focusing on environmental sociology. Her ambition is to dedicate her life to serving particularly vulnerable populations in need of support, such as minority groups, indigenous peoples, and refugees and contributing to a better world for all.
