Biography

Leonard Henderson is a sociology PhD student specializing in Environment and Community. Leonard received his BA in Sociology and Anthropology, and International Political Economy at the University of Puget Sound in 2016 where he focused on cultural, political, and economic dynamics of Hip-Hop. As well, Leonard obtained his MA in Public Sociology at Humboldt State University in 2020, and his thesis work explored the intersections of the socio-cultural constructions of wilderness and perceptions of the belongingness of “human” sounds. Currently, Leonard’s work concerns water politics in rural, high-amenity community transitions in the Intermountain West, and the role of racialized “wild west” cultural mythologies in structuring and organizing power in relation to interactions with water.
