Biography
Dr. Courtney Flint is a community and natural resource sociologist and interdisciplinary environmental social scientist in the USU Department of Environment & Society. Her work focuses on people’s perspectives and collective actions in changing landscapes and social and natural resource conditions. She prioritizes providing sound data to support local and regional decisions on land use, natural resource management, and local and regional wellbeing. Her current projects include the Utah Wellbeing Project (surveys of residents in many Utah cities and towns in partnership with city leaders), the Transformation Network (large network funded by NSF focused on guided transformations for sustainability, with projects on river organizations as key social ecological actors, characterizing wellbeing, and rural-urban corridors), and I-GUIDE (large network funded by NSF focused on advancing geospatial technologies for addressing hydroclimatic extremes, aging dams, and other threats to sustainability).
