Jia Li is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Utah State University who studies autocratic politics and democratization. He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the Pennsylvania State University in 2023.
He is interested in elections, political parties, media and propaganda, and corruption under autocracy. His research lies at the intersection of political institutions, leaders’ political survival strategies, and the behavior of ordinary citizens. His work applies quantitative analysis, experiments, surveys, formal modeling, and social network analysis, among other methods. He is particularly interested in East Asia and Southeast Asia.
