About the Position

The Deseret News is Utah’s oldest newspaper and the Beehive state’s longest continuously-operating business. Our primary focus is digital and our reach is national and global with over half of our online readers living outside of Utah. We are proud to support student journalists with a number of internships throughout the year. We offer paid internships at $14/hour that last from 3-6 months, and have flexibility to accommodate full time, part time, in person, remote, and hybrid options! Deseret News interns get real newsroom experience and have the ability to have millions of pageviews every month! 

Throughout the year we have internship opportunities that cover:
Social media marketing (in English, Spanish, and Portuguese)
Utah Legislature reporting/writing
Trending news and rapid relevance reporting/writing
National and local politics reporting/writing
Magazine writing for Deseret Magazine
Faith and religion reporting/writing with the Church News 
Digital news homepage and audience optimization
Newsletter writing
