Biography
Seth Archer is a cultural and environmental historian of North America specializing in Indigenous history and the history of health, disease, and medicine. His first book is Sharks upon the Land: Colonialism, Indigenous Health, and Culture in Hawaiʻi, 1778-1855 (Cambridge University Press, 2018), which won the President's Book Award from the Social Science History Association. From 2015 to 2017 he was the Mellon Research Fellow in American History at the University of Cambridge.
