Rebecca Andersen

Biography

Rebecca Andersen is a Lecturer in modern U.S. history and Utah history. She oversees the department's public history track and supervises student internships. A graduate of Arizona State University, Andersen's dissertation, "Between Mountain and Lake: an Urban Mormon Country" considers the development of a post-World War II Mormon cultural landscape along Utah's Wasatch Front. A recent book chapter, "'For the Strength of the Hills': Casting a Concrete Zion" looks at the Mormon roots behind Utah's sand and gravel industry. It is published in Matthew C. Godfrey and Jedediah S. Roger's edited volume, The Earth Will Appear as the Garden of Eden: Essays on Mormon Environmental History. She also serves on the advisory editorial board for The Utah Historical Quarterly, where she publishes regularly.
