Biography

PhD, History, Cambridge University, 1978 MA, History, University of Colorado, 1974 BA, History, Idaho State University, 1972 Professor Norman Jones joined the department in 1978 and was Department Head for eighteen years. He has published eleven scholarly books and more than fifty scholarly articles on early modern English religion, law and culture, including The English Reformation: Religion and Cultural Adaptation. Jones has held fellowships at Oxford University, Cambridge University, Harvard University, and the Huntington Library. Chair of the Utah Regents’ General Education Task Force since 2001, he is a leader in the national effort to “tune” the history curriculum. A Senior Fellow of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, he chairs the College Board’s Advanced Placement Higher Education Advisory Committee. His teaching interests include history of Western Civilizations, Early Modern Europe, and the history of Christianity.
