Biography

Christopher Conte is an Associate Professor of African and environmental history. His courses include: Introduction to Historical Methods (3000), Africa History Survey (3510), African Environmental History (3530), Environmental History Survey (3950), The Modern World (1510), The Pre-Modern World (1500), and various graduate seminars. Conte’s research focuses on the landscape history of eastern Africa. Most recently he has written about the history of slavery and agroforestry on Pemba Island, Tanzania.
