Clinical Internship | Rape Recovery Center


About the Position

The clinical intern will provide direct services to primary and secondary survivors of sexual violence through individual psychotherapy, crisis services, and the facilitation of groups. We utilize a trauma-informed lens focused on empowerment and strengths-based perspectives. The position entails providing service to clients 70% of the time. The remainder of the time is dedicated to personal development, inter-agency meetings, and supervision—opportunities for professional growth and active engagement with a highly collaborative team and creativity and collaboration with partners.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities vary based on practicum requirements and academic programs.
  • Provide weekly individual virtual or in person psychotherapy
  • Co-facilitate 1-2 groups with licensed therapists.
  • Keep accurate records on all clients.
  • Supply surveys and assessment tools to clients.
  • Complete assessments, treatment plans, reviews, and clinical notes within 24 hours.
  • 20 hours-32 hours/week, including Group Internship Consultation (2x per month), Clinical meeting (Wednesdays 1-2pm), Clinical Training Seminar (Wednesdays 2-3pm).
  • One to two evenings required per week

Qualifications

  • Current graduate student in any year of a CMHC, MSW, or PHD program
  • Counseling experience
  • Strong references
  • Experience and/or interest in feminist multicultural therapy, trauma therapy, and group therapy
  • BIPOC and bilingual/multilingual students are encouraged to apply.

Conditions

  • The intern must obtain a 40-hour crisis counselor certification within 90-days or next available training through the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault (UCASA).
  • The intern must pass a background check.
  • Committed to the values of RRC, including anti-oppression and anti-racism.
