The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp (AFROTC) program at USU
The English department is the largest humanities unit in the university, offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees covering a broad curriculum in literature, creative writing, English education, folklore and technical writing. English majors at USU have several pathways to engage in writing and research opportunities on campus and to gain individualized attention from scholar-teachers.
The Department of History's primary mission is to train undergraduates to research, analyze, synthesize, and communicate accurate conclusions about change over time by using the historical method. At the same time we aim to inculcate cultural literacy and provide the knowledge necessary for informed decision making by citizens of Utah, the United States and the world.
JCOM trains students to engage successfully in a competitive and rapidly changing media world. Focusing on the written word, broadcast and public relations, JCOM has the highest placement percentage upon graduation of any field taught at USU. We offer state-of-the-art equipment in computers, software and broadcast equipment, as well as faculty members who work and publish in their industries.
LPCS is a unique and diverse department stretching from languages to philosophy and much in between. The faculty and students celebrate this diversity and believe that an important part of becoming an educated person is achieving an understanding of one’s self, others and how we connect with each other and the world.
Students and faculty in SSWA study people, social institutions and the patterns of human behavior. Sociologists investigate how social systems work. Social workers seek to improve human lives. And anthropologists research the human experience. We provide students with strong liberal arts programming, sound training in the theories and methodologies of social sciences, and teach the skills essential to practice in their field.
