Dorcas Anabire Wins CPTSC Diversity Scholarship
The English Department congratulates Dorcas Anabire, Ph.D. student in Technical Communication and Rhetoric, who was recently awarded the Council for Programs in Technical and Scientific Communication (CPTSC) 2024 Diversity Scholarship. The scholarship provides travel support and a waived fee for the 2024 CPTSC conference in Menomonie, Wisconsin, this October. The conference connects researchers, faculty, and administrators in the fields of technical and scientific communication.
Dorcas is currently working on two research projects in the field. The first project focuses on uncovering barriers that prevent students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities from pursuing graduate degrees. The second project looks at how international graduate students manage filing income taxes in the United States. Dorcas notes, “Both projects build on my research focus on the intersection of technical and professional communication (TPC) and marginalized communities.”
