Biography

Dr. Christine A. Hult taught writing and worked as an administrator for 25 years, arriving on campus in 1985. At Utah State, she served as the associate and acting department head of English and as the associate dean for academics at the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She was instrumental in creating online degree programs and courses for both graduate and undergraduate students, including the first master's degree in technical writing offered completely online. Professor Hult has published several books: Researching and Writing across the Curriculum, The Handy English Grammar Answer Book, and The New Century Handbook (co-authored with Thomas A. Huckin). For scholarly work over her career, she was named the 2004 D. Wynne Thorne Career Researcher, the highest accolade awarded to researchers at USU. One of her most impactful roles while on the faculty was as co-investigator on a $3 million award from the National Science Foundation to study and enhance the professional success of women in academic environments.
