Glacus G and Marie B. Merrill Scholarship

 Through the generosity of a Utah radio pioneer, the Merrill Endowment provides scholarships for promising JCOM majors, with preference given to students from Northern Utah who are interested in broadcasting.

Jay W. Glasmann Family Scholarship

 Endowed by the former owners of the Ogden Standard Examiner, the Glasmann Family Endowment funds scholarships for students with demonstrated high academic achievement, having leadership potential, and who intend to pursue journalism careers. Preference to candidates from Weber, Box Elder, Morgan, and Davis Counties.

Joseph A. "Andy" Hays Scholarship

 Endowed by a former vice president of the Chicago Tribune Corp. Candidates for this Scholarship should be junior JCOM majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA, who are leaders in student activities, and have demonstrated financial need. 

Josey Barnes Wayman Scholarship in Broadcast Journalism

Established by a 1951 USU communication graduate who was a pioneer for women in broadcast journalism, the Wayman Scholarship offers stipends to junior and senior women in broadcast journalism who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need, and who intend careers in broadcasting.

Lane M. Palmer Scholarship

Created in memory of a 1943 alumnus who went on to become the editor and owner of "The Farm News", Palmer Scholarships are intended for outstanding students who can show financial need, with preference given to students in print journalism from Box Elder County.

Lee C. and Sarah Jean Frischknecht Internship

Established in 2005 by Sara Frischknecht, the Frischknecht Scholarship/Internship honors the memory of a 1951 USU speech and radio graduate who became president of National Public Radio. Recipients will work with KUSU Radio in the creation of radio news/feature packages.

Deseret News Scholarships

 

Wilford D. Porter Memorial Scholarship

Endowed by JCOM alumni and friends in memory of their professor, Wilford D. Porter, one of the first journalism teachers at USU, this scholarship is for students who demonstrate the high journalistic standards to which Professor Porter dedicated his career..
